what's the opposite of 'glee'?

hmmm...the opposite of 'glee'...maybe sad? uh...joyless?...mmm...unhappy?uhhh...glee...(pause...the sound of rusty gears turning)
...oh wait...

uh-glee...UH-GLEE!!! yes!...yes! that's exactly it!

(whew...I feel so much better now that I figured that out.) 


I don't mean to sound harsh, and maybe I'm the only one on the planet who feels this way, but I really didn't like the dress selections for Jane Lynch at the 2011 Emmy Awards. The fabrics looked cheap and shiny, the styling was circa 'mother-of-the-bride' and that first strapless dress...och!!!

Beautiful deep claret color, but when I first looked at it, all I could think of were the words to that old black spiritual, "Swing low, sweet chariot". Dang. Someone call 911-Playtex cause we have some boobs that have fallen and they can't get up.

Anyhoo...here are some options from designers Carolina Herrera and Monique Lhuillier (pre-fall 2011) that I think would have been a better direction to style her.
