dear sweet gabby douglas

Oh dear.

How difficult would it be to be 16 years old...to have lived your entire life in leotards. To have spent every penny you have and don't have on training, physical therapy, chalk, tape and grips. To basically be a 'nobody' and within a matter of minutes, suddenly catapulted to global recognition and fame.

Pretty dang difficult would be my guess.

And, it also wouldn't be the easiest task, (being such a little bit of a person and having an athletic build), to try and find clothing that fits. No wonder she defaulted to something that so closely resembles a gymnastic leotard. Appropriate for the gym...not so much for the red carpet.

So here's what I would do:
1)Create the illusion of some curves. Easiest done by defining the waist and wearing a gathered skirt.
2)Wear softer fabrics that don't cling. Most of us don't have the problem of trying to take the edge off an angular frame. That is why 'Spanx' is now a household word for those of us who live in the jiggle zone. But trust me, there is life beyond Spandex...it's called Cotton.
3)Booties tend to visually cut the length of the leg. They are great for people with long, lithe limbs, but shorter gals should opt out of wearing them with anything but pants...unless you want to look like your knees connect directly to your feet, then by all means go for it.
