a little bea tutorial

Recently a friend of mine, who describes herself as 'chubby' asked if I would do some posts on wardrobe ideas for the 'curvaceously' inclined. When I stumbled across this picture of JLo in Los Angeles promoting her upcoming tour I thought,"Hmmm...this might just be the ticket". Not that JLo is a chubbette by any means, but she does have some 'assets' (big wink) that she works to showcase in a flattering way.

A couple basics here:
1)The perfect body shape for any woman is the hourglass. Simply put, the shoulders and hips are in equal proportion, and the waist narrows in.
2)If you don't have the perfect hourglass shape, which most of us don't, then you manipulate your clothing to create the visual illusion that you do.

...some of you are nodding off I can tell...leh me eh-splain, no...leh me summup.

Still with me? My point is that first of all the dress is ugly...it's a terrible color for her and for a photo op...and the design just accentuates her rounded shoulders and bodacious booticus. The fix? Either select a different dress (which is what I would do) or put some shoulder pads in the dress to square out the shoulders and hope to heaven that it visually brings them in proportion to the hips. Which is going to be a stretch because of the hem being so tight against her legs. With this body shape, your legs can look proportionately heavier to your top half anyway...so wearing an ankle strap shoe is a no-no because it visually shortens the leg even more. I photoshop'd out the ankle strap on the above photo and look how much more elongated her legs look.

Hope this little fashion tutorial helps. If you have any comments or suggestions, I'd love you hear from you!

Hasta go now...adios muchachas! Miss Bea
